MarFlex's deepwell pumps unload the first oil from the Western Isles FPSO

MarFlex’s most recent project for the offshore market was its contribution to the Western Isles development for Dana Petroleum which is being operated in the UK region of the North Sea.

The Western Isles development consists of production and water injection wells tied back to a new build floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) with oil export using shuttle tankers. The cylindrical FPSO has the capacity to produce 44,000 barrels of oil a day and to store 400,000 barrels in its tanks.

MarFlex supplied the pump package for the FPSO. The project began in 2013 and was delivered by 2015, before being finalized in December 2016.

MarFlex has worked closely together with Dana and COSCO to achieve the best quality possible for this project and has developed pumps that operate smoothly over the entire speed range of the pumps. In fact, the final pump performance even exceeded everyone’s expectations.

On 21 November, Dana Petroleum announced the first oil from its Western Isles development. This first oil has now been successfully unloaded using MarFlex's deepwell pumps.
